About MnAAHKRC:

A diverse African American led, faith-based coalition of individuals, congregations, denominations and private, Non-Profit, Professional and Community entities in Minnesota mobilized to assist Hurricane Katrina surviviors.

To organize, augment and optimize Hurricane Katrina relief and resettlement initiatives provided by individuals, congregations, denominiations and private, Non-Profit, Professional and Community entities in Minnesota mobilized to assist Hurricane Katrina surviviors.

Accomplishment:

1. MnAAHKRC formed a working Leadership Team to organize and maximize our response to Hurricane Katrina relief:

2. Created a user-friendly and relevant web site (www.mnhurricanekatrina.org) that reflects the MnAAHKRC led Minnesota Katrina effort:

  • Information about the work, contacts, meeting time and place, events, actions, recommendations of the Leadership Team, including a comprehensive Leadership listing, are available on the virtual site.
  • Discussion forum/blogs are available on the vitual site.
  • We invite any and all community organizations, businesses, churches, agencies, and organizations, and, individuals, to post relief related meeting and event notices on the Community Calendar. We encourage the community to use the Community Calendar facility aggressively. It is a powerful and practical tool for effective relief community planning.

3. Established MnAAHKRC Press Room to provide a virtual Press Kit that includes current information, news releases, media coverage and is available to the public, mass media and communications agents.

4. Established Satellite Centers & partner Service Centers to provide information about registering with relief organizations and offer spiritual counseling; coordinated strategic partnering Service Centers to provide information and assistance about/to Social Service, housing, training and jobs.
