Minnesota Hurricane Katrina Relief (MnHKR) Announces Action Plan

Mpls./St. Paul (September 07, 2005) Minnesota Hurricane Katrina Relief (MnHKR), a coalition of Black churches, civic, business and professional community based organizations, and elected officials, today announces broad-ranging collaborative initiatives to aid Hurricane Katrina evacuees and to provide ongoing support for disaster relief efforts in the South.

In a press conference at 4pm today at KMOJ Radio Station, MnHKR will present the structure it has developed to facilitate and maximize Minnesota's Black community response, and outline strategic linkages with other Minnesota, national, and Southern States regional resources to respond the Hurricane Katrina disaster. KMOJ Radio Station is located at 555 Girard Terrace, Minneapolis, MN. The press conference will include remarks by Reverend Richard Coleman, chair, MnHKR, and remarks by MnHKR committee chairs for Resettlement, Volunteers, Pastors and Churches, Political issues, and Communications.

KMOJ Radio, 89.9 FM announces it will pre-empt regular drive time programming 5-6pm today to broadcast live a Minnesota Hurricane Katrina Relief Special Report. The Minnesota Hurricane Katrina Special Report will feature detailed information on Minnesota Hurricane Katrina Relief initiatives, and information on national efforts to support disaster victims and their communities.
