Back Packs are needed (09/01/06 CLOSED)

Help give hope and God’s love to kids in need in the inner-cities of St. Paul and Minneapolis. You have the opportunity to help provide PowerPacks – backpacks filled with school supplies – for urban churches to share with needy families in their communities. In addition to school supplies, each PowerPack will provide a children’s Bible and a “neighborhood relationship” between the child, his family, and a church in their community. There are two great ways to “give hope” to an inner-city child through the PowerPack outreach: The requests are way beyond what we can provide. We have nearly 2000 requests and 600 committed!!!! We need you and your church to please put together these back-to-school PowerPacks by early August --- collect them and contact Dan Howe, from HLIC and he will arrange to have them picked up and delivered to our inner city churches who will give these personally to the kids in their neighborhoods. if you can help! We need this all done by August 10!

Contact:
Dan Howe, 612-338-0999 ext. 12 or email: dan.howe@ccci.org

For more information contact: John Sather, City Director at 612-338-0999, E-mail: hlic.twincities@ccci.org. Visit web site: www.hlictwincities.org

You can sponsor a PowerPack financially by giving a gift on-line: wwwg ive.ccci.org/give/2758150
You can create your own PowerPack. Simply go to the PowerPacks Information Page on our website for all the details.

Sponsor a Child
For a mere $30-35/month, you can change the life of a child forever. Go to World Vision for more information. This is a great opportunity for individuals, families, or youth groups who have experienced or supported the Famine. Click here to e-mail your sponsored child. If no one from your church sponsors a child, please do it yourself and start telling the story, sharing the letters you get back with your group. Also, let me know the name and country of the children who are sponsored by your congregation. Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church hosted "A Child is Waiting" Sundays. "We're up to 21 from 4 churches!"

We [Immanuel Lutheran] are doing a Summer Mission Trip through YouthWorks, which is based in Minneapolis and does mission trips all over the U.S. and into Canada and Mexico. You can find all the details/outline on their website: www.youthworks.com. Cost was $248 for the week, which includes housing and meals. You do stay overnight and they run a pretty good program. You do need to provide your own transportation for your group as you drive daily to service sights.

Sponsorship of Student(s) in Sierra Leone (7/10/06 CLOSED)
Mission available out of Grace Lutheran Church in St. Paul, MN (www.gracelutheranstpaul.org). For just $60 you could make it possible for a child, who otherwise would not be able to afford it, TO GO TO SCHOOL. In Sierra Leone a child cannot go to school unless they can pay & MANY cannot pay. Just think, we take it for granted. But some kids may NEVER get an education unless someone sponsors them. Please prayerfully consider this unique opportunity. This opportunity is made possible by members of the Sierra Leone Aide Initiative who are also members of Grace.
Send check by June 28, 2006 Make check payable to Grace Lutheran Church & send to: Grace Lutheran Church, 1730 Old Hudson Road, St. Paul, MN 55106-6199. Any Questions please call Sue Atneosen, 651-774-9114.

A World Church Service -- Heifer International
Instead of providing hungry families with a non-renewable source of food, Heifer International provides a "living loan" of an animal. Heifer provides extensive training in animal care, ecologically sound agriculture practices and community development. The result is to transform not just families, but the environment and community. Another key cornerstone of Heifer International is "passing on the gift." Families who receive an animal repay the loan by passing on one or more of the animals' offspring to other needy families. That family passes on their gift to another family and so on. So one gift multiplies through the community. Heifer International currently provides more than 27 types of animals that provide food and/or income to struggling families in 48 countries (including the U. S.) Put together a small assistance package and make a big difference--- Health, school, baby, heart to heart kits. Great kids project. Click Order our CWS Kit Guide at Bottom of page; click on to “Order Gift of Heart Kit;” then on the side of the screen click “Build a Better World” for other curriculum resources—most free. Also on this site information about CROPWALKS. Note: this organization serves in the USA also. Website: http://www.churchworldservice.org/kits/index.html
