Word/Warner Labels' duo Ted & Sheri will perform at Emmanuel Tabernacle COGIC Choir Spring Concert
Mpls, MN (May 20, 2006 - GMS)
The Stellar Award duo Ted & Sheri will
perform on May 28, 2006, 7PM at Emmanuel
Tabernacle Church of God in Christ (COGIC) -- host
pastor is Bishop Stanley N. Frazier of
Minnesota State
Jurisdictional COGIC, 2501 East 22nd Street,
Minneapolis. Elder Billy Steele, President of
the Emmanuel Tabernacle COGIC Choir and MN State
COGIC Minister of Music, says that
bringing Ted & Sheri to Emmanuel is in keeping with
the goal of the church's music department to attract
national recording artists. "Our spring concert has
been one of our successful avenues to raise funds for
our church choir annually."
"We will feature our very own Emmanuel
Tabernacle
One Heartbeat Senior and Youth Choirs. We
have several recording artists and musicians in our
choir such as our choir director Darnell F. Davis
(also known as 'Baby D'), The Remnant
-- songwriter, producer, artist and musician --
is award winning in his own right; Darlene
Miller; members of Excelsior,
Minneapolis Gospel Sound and I'm a member
of the Steele Singers and the Sounds of
Blackness; Tonia Hughes
and our very own Cheri Frazier who has
been singing around the country at conferences. Our
very own choir [One Heartbeat] is looking
forward to recording soon." Over the past five years,
Steele and the choirs have brought in Rance
Allen, William Murphy to name some.
In case you’ve been out of the loop for the past few
years, Ted Winn and Sheri Jones-Moffett have been
taking the gospel music industry by storm. Touting a
fresh sound coupled with anointed lyrics and phat
beats, these Memphis, TN natives have been
continuously garnering critical acclaim while
establishing a grassroots following across the country
and overseas. Originally members of The Voices of
Binghampton (now known as Kevin Davidson & The
Voices), Ted & Sheri have honed their musical mettle
with some of Gospel’s most notable figures. Sheri has
been a featured soloist with Donald Lawrence and the
Tri-City Singers -- featured singing 'God's Favor' on
the group's latest and last CD 'Finale', while Ted has
yielded his vocal styling to Richard Smallwood and
Vision. Yet, it was their collaboration with each other
that has generated the greatest buzz.
“It was really a God-ordained situation,” says
Ted. “After meeting in The Voices some 11 years
ago, I asked Sheri to join a group I started (Ted Winn
and Deliverance). Invariably, Sheri and I began to
receive invitations to sing out of town without the
rest of the group. The other members could see as
well as we that God was utilizing Sheri and me for a
Divine purpose. That’s the short version!”
“We really learned patience in the beginning.” offers
Sheri. I worked the same job for almost 10 years,
never telling my co-workers of my ambition and
calling in the music ministry. God taught us how to
trust in Him when the situation and present
circumstances don’t look like what He promised.”
