ROBERT ROBERTSON
the “Pavarotti of Gospel”

A native of Minnesota, Robert is perceived as the “Pavarotti of Gospel” in the Twin Cities. At the early age of six, Robert began singing with his family, “The Robinson Children.” He acted as coordinator of the group even in his early years; he also was the lead vocalist for the group.

Since then, Robert has aspired to make music his career. His voice can be heard as both lead and background vocalist on various album projects with the Sam Davis Gospel Ensemble, Minneapolis Gospel Sound, GT and the Halo Express, Volume 10, Connell Lewis and Cornerstone and Excelsior Choral Ensemble. He also performed for such greats as Aretha Franklin, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Jermaine Jackson, Prince, Mattie Moss Clark and the Clark Sisters, The Steeles, and the Sounds of Blackness.

For 15 years, Robert toured with nationally celebrated pianist Lorie Line and her Pop Chamber Orchestra, serving as the only vocalist in her holiday, spring and summer tours. In 2001 Robert collaborated with Lorie on a project entitled “The Show Stoppers”. The project features selections that Robert has performed with Lorie and her Pop Chamber Orchestra during their many years of working together.

Robert also has nine other solo projects to his credit: His most recent releases - Robinson’s Gospel CD “The Faith Project” (available now), and his Holiday CD “Spirit of the Season” (September '07) . “I want to refocus thinking on what the holiday season should be all about” says Robinson. “Sharing love and giving love is something we can do all year long, not just at Christmas;” From the Heart, From the Heart, Vol. 2, Christmas From the Heart, Praise From the Heart, Robert Robinson ”Live” with Friends and Songs for the Season. He has also produced two projects through Compass Productions that are distributed exclusively through Target Stores – Gospel Hymns and Gospel Christmas. His cd "Inspiration" although very spiritual and powerful in treatment, primarily includes non gospel songs which Robert describes as "music designed to elevate the heart and mind of the listener, and take them to a higher place of appreciation for life, love and spirit."

In October 1991, Robert was selected to play the lead role of the nightingale in Theatre de la Jeune Lune’s production of “The Nightingale”. The show ran four about four months and was the second highest show in attendance and sales in the history of the theatre company. He was honored as Minnesota's 2004 Best Gospel Singer, as well as recognized by the Minnesota Timberwovles as their number one choice to sing the National Anthem for all play-off games and season openers. He has also appeared as guest soloist for the National Day of Prayer in Washington, DC, Promise Keepers at the SilverDome in Pontiac, Michigan' and was the featured artist for the Twin Cities Billy Graham Crusade.

Robert is also the executive/artistic director of the Twin Cities Community Gospel Choir. The choir was started in May 1990 and has approximately 65 members. Together they have traveled in Minnesota and throughout the Upper Midwest. He has recorded three CDs with the Gospel Choir – “Make Me an Instrument”, “Thank Ya!”, and their latest release “Love Brings Unity", which premiered on GRACE Media Network. The heart of the choir’s ministry focuses on performances for shelters, juvenile detention centers, prisons and inner-city community events.

Robert has traveled nationally and internationally. In January/February 2000, he toured South Korea as a guest of the United States Army. Robert is known for his powerful and sensitive delivery. He performs for corporate events, banquets, weddings, funerals and church services. His goal in music is to make a positive difference through his gift of song. His message is one of comfort and love to all people.
