ROOSEVELT GEORGE
Blacksmoke Worldwide Music, Inc Gospel Recording Artist
'consumate artist' and 'maestro songwriter'
Mr. Roosevelt George, a very proud former member of James Grear & Company, set out to pursue a solo career in Gospel music -- he is achieving just that and more.
It's Roosevelt George's time. Now, the consumate artist and maestro songwriter Mr. Roosevelt George and Blacksmoke Worldwide Music, Inc are preparing to introduce his highly anticipated and soon to be released debut cd --
Sent To Encourage You. It's Roosevelt George's time. As a prelude to the release, Mr. George has not only release 5 popular music videos, but wrote, produced & co-directed each project. To add to his stellar accomplishments, he is proving to be savvy & innovative event producer, yet allowing up and coming - and even seasoned artists to glean from his talent and wisdom.
Produced by GRAMMY nominated and
Stellar Award-winning F. Darnell
Davis and written entirely by Roosevelt George,
Sent To Encourage You is already labeled
as a masterful ministry performance. To promote the
CD project, Roosevelt George has also completed the filming of
four music videos -- "I
Get Joy" (I Get Joy" featured
in the Gospel Truth Magazine's Gospel '07 CD/DVD compilation
and listed in the top 10) and "If
Jesus Says You're Healed" (featuring Shirley
Marie Graham, formerly of the Sounds of Blackness, James
Grear & Company and The
Remnant on background vocals, and a cameo appearance by J
Isaac); "I
Trust You" - being recognized as an unforgetable & provacative performance -- and his
latest is It's Possible".
All four video projects were written & co-directed by George
and directed by the 'sought out' Florida based Dave Hondel
Films. Roosevelt
George is rapidly becoming a radio, TV & Internet play favorite with the
release of his radio singles - "I
Get Joy" and "It's
Possible" and most recently the stellar release of "I Need You" under the success hands of CEO Mr. Kerry Douglas, Blacksmoke Worldwide/Gospel Truth Magazine of Houston, TX.
The soon to be released Sent To Encourage You is evidence that Roosevelt George is right on time. "God placed in my heart that it was time to go out to encourage the broken hearted who had been made to feel like the least of all, as well as people who were sick, dying and giving up."
From 1985 to 1988, Roosevelt George attended Grambling State University and worked at the college's radio station KGRM where 4,000 students and staff knew him by his first name as the 'smooth radio announcer'. His fans will also appreciate knowing that he's from Clinton, Louisiana (only 30 minutes from Baton Rouge), and an 'excellent cook', whose specialty is gumbo, jambalaya, cakes and pies to name a few.
He stayed focused on his solo career and relocated to Minneapolis, MN . "I happen to be in a concert in Minneapolis and heard James Grear & Company...I was totally blown away. Even though it was my desire to do the solo thing, I immediately fell in love with James' group. I tracked him down to see if I could become a member. To my surprise, he was actually looking for a tenor. That's when I knew that it must have been the will of God for us to come together. I've been singing with the Company for 12 years or so."
Discography
His current career with James Grear & Company has garnered 40+ weeks of Billboard, four Stellar and two Excellence Awards nominations, a Soul Train Award nominee; appearances -- The Fighting Temptations movie featuring Beyonce of Destiny's Child and Angie Stone, produced by the incomparable team of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis; NBC's Today Show performing as the backup singers for pop diva Mariah Carey; co-starred in the musical stage production entitled, "Hell's Too Hot", along with the 80's disco diva Cheryl Lynn (To Be Real); featured with James Grear & Company on other soundtracks such as “Prince of Egypt” with Boys II Men, and the “Imperials New Groove” with Sting. Roosevelt was the featured opener performing one of his debut singles "I Trust in You" for the recently completed James Grear & Company Praise & Worship Live (2005) recording in Minneapolis.
As a 'consummate artist', Roosevelt George's smooth, silky ballad vocal style ranges from an R&B sounding 'whisper tone' to a 'driving church’ and ‘quartet tone'. Dr. James Grear, whose gospel music idol is world-class composer, pianist, arranger and Gospel great Richard Smallwood, says that Roosevelt's voice reminds him of Smallwood.
