ROOSEVELT GEORGE
Blacksmoke Worldwide Music, Inc Gospel Recording Artist
'consumate artist' and 'maestro songwriter'

Mr. Roosevelt George, a very proud former member of James Grear & Company, set out to pursue a solo career in Gospel music -- he is achieving just that and more.

It's Roosevelt George's time. Now, the consumate artist and maestro songwriter Mr. Roosevelt George and Blacksmoke Worldwide Music, Inc are preparing to introduce his highly anticipated and soon to be released debut cd -- Sent To Encourage You. It's Roosevelt George's time. As a prelude to the release, Mr. George has not only release 5 popular music videos, but wrote, produced & co-directed each project. To add to his stellar accomplishments, he is proving to be savvy & innovative event producer, yet allowing up and coming - and even seasoned artists to glean from his talent and wisdom.

Produced by GRAMMY nominated and Stellar Award-winning F. Darnell Davis and written entirely by Roosevelt George, Sent To Encourage You is already labeled as a masterful ministry performance. To promote the CD project, Roosevelt George has also completed the filming of four music videos -- "I Get Joy" (I Get Joy" featured in the Gospel Truth Magazine's Gospel '07 CD/DVD compilation and listed in the top 10) and "If Jesus Says You're Healed" (featuring Shirley Marie Graham, formerly of the Sounds of Blackness, James Grear & Company and The Remnant on background vocals, and a cameo appearance by J Isaac); "I Trust You" - being recognized as an unforgetable & provacative performance -- and his latest is It's Possible". All four video projects were written & co-directed by George and directed by the 'sought out' Florida based Dave Hondel Films. Roosevelt George is rapidly becoming a radio, TV & Internet play favorite with the release of his radio singles - "I Get Joy" and "It's Possible" and most recently the stellar release of "I Need You" under the success hands of CEO Mr. Kerry Douglas, Blacksmoke Worldwide/Gospel Truth Magazine of Houston, TX.

The soon to be released Sent To Encourage You is evidence that Roosevelt George is right on time. "God placed in my heart that it was time to go out to encourage the broken hearted who had been made to feel like the least of all, as well as people who were sick, dying and giving up."

From 1985 to 1988, Roosevelt George attended Grambling State University and worked at the college's radio station KGRM where 4,000 students and staff knew him by his first name as the 'smooth radio announcer'. His fans will also appreciate knowing that he's from Clinton, Louisiana (only 30 minutes from Baton Rouge), and an 'excellent cook', whose specialty is gumbo, jambalaya, cakes and pies to name a few.

He stayed focused on his solo career and relocated to Minneapolis, MN . "I happen to be in a concert in Minneapolis and heard James Grear & Company...I was totally blown away. Even though it was my desire to do the solo thing, I immediately fell in love with James' group. I tracked him down to see if I could become a member. To my surprise, he was actually looking for a tenor. That's when I knew that it must have been the will of God for us to come together. I've been singing with the Company for 12 years or so."

Discography

His current career with James Grear & Company has garnered 40+ weeks of Billboard, four Stellar and two Excellence Awards nominations, a Soul Train Award nominee; appearances -- The Fighting Temptations movie featuring Beyonce of Destiny's Child and Angie Stone, produced by the incomparable team of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis; NBC's Today Show performing as the backup singers for pop diva Mariah Carey; co-starred in the musical stage production entitled, "Hell's Too Hot", along with the 80's disco diva Cheryl Lynn (To Be Real); featured with James Grear & Company on other soundtracks such as “Prince of Egypt” with Boys II Men, and the “Imperials New Groove” with Sting. Roosevelt was the featured opener performing one of his debut singles "I Trust in You" for the recently completed James Grear & Company Praise & Worship Live (2005) recording in Minneapolis.

As a 'consummate artist', Roosevelt George's smooth, silky ballad vocal style ranges from an R&B sounding 'whisper tone' to a 'driving church’ and ‘quartet tone'. Dr. James Grear, whose gospel music idol is world-class composer, pianist, arranger and Gospel great Richard Smallwood, says that Roosevelt's voice reminds him of Smallwood.

Dubbed a 'maestro songwriter', Roosevelt George is the Executive Producer and wrote all songs on his current soon to be released Blacksmoke Music Worldwide project Sent To Encourage You. He has also penned hit songs for award winning artists and projects such as:

He did it again. Roosevelt George is songwriter & producer On American Idol 5th season top 5 finalist Paris Bennett's new release "A Royal Christmas" (street date October 14 '08). He penned two songs -- track #1 "It's Christmas Time" and track #8 "Not Alone".

February '08 -- Songwriter of the 2008 GRAMMY nominated single "I Apologize" from her new cd release 'This Is Love' sang by Ann Nesby, followed by 2009 - Ann Nesby's Gospel project "Lula Lee Project aka Ann Nesby".

Stellar Award winning and Grammy nominated Excelsior recorded his "Things Will Work Out" (God @ Work/Verity Records 2001).

Chart topper Cheryl Lynn recorded his "People Need Love" and performed it during her Japan tour. Roosevelt George wrote this song as an awareness message to the world and a love message to the families suffering & dying from the deadly Aids epidemic.

All five projects released with Gold-selling group James Grear & Company -- the inspirational, non-gospel "Beautiful Black People" was released as a radio single to gospel and urban radio to coincide with Black History month and successfully spent 30 plus weeks at the top of Billboard Gospel, plus R&B charts and "Song of Repentance" (Don't Give Up/Born Again Records 1998); "All You Need" (lead vocals by Qwan Howell & Jack Yates), "Believe In Yourself" (lead & background vocals by Jamecia Bennett) and "Oh Please" (The Next Level/Born Again 2000); "Heaven" and "Jesus You're First In My Life" (What Will Your Life Say/Born Again Records 2002); "Angels" and "Something's Happenin" (A Special Place/Liquid 8 Records 2004).

Stellar Awards 2006 nominee James Grear & Nu Friends recorded "Jesus Is Holy" and re-recorded "Something's Happenin" (James Grear & Nu Friends Live/Alliant Records 2005).

"Jesus Is Holy" is featured on the Preaching To The Choir Movie Soundtrack (Alliant Music Group/April 2006). The feature movie from Code Black Entertainment stars Eartha Kitt, Ben Vereen, Patti LaBelle, Tichina Arnold and Akinnouye-Agbaje, with original music composed by R&B Hall of Fame inductee Nona Hendryx as well as Edwin Hawkins with the Gospel ensemble Broadway Inspirational Voices; winner of the 2005 American Black Film Festival’s Best Actor and Audience Awards and winner of the 2005 American Black Film Festival’s Grand Jury Prize.

Roosevelt George wrote the 2008 GRAMMY nominated single "I Apologize" for GRAMMY-winning artist Ann Nesby (formerly of the legendary Sounds of Blackness) along with "Can't Explain It" from her new cd titled This Is Love. He also penned ("Praises Go Up" on Nesby's gospel cd to be released 2008. Twin Cities' local church choirs are beginning to teach and sing his radio single "It's Possible" during their Sunday morning worship services. His Film producer Dave Hondel (HBFilms) is currently completing his dvd project that will include all four music videos written enitrely by Roosevelt George - "I Get Joy", "If Jesus Says You're Healed", "I Trust You" and "It's Possible".

Roosevelt George's vocal and songwriting edge, also adding music video co-directing/performance is fast garnering radio play and music industry attention. His music has given 'overcoming' inspiration to both gospel and secular fans from the USA to Japan and Italy. Now, his music is reaching world wide as featured on The Word Network (Bobby Jones Gospel Retreat), Gospel Truth Magazine.com, GMNetwork.cc OnDEMAND, YouTube.com and GMNLive.com TV & Radio. .

Sent To Encourage You
(soon to be released 2007)

Every song is delivered with a passion and conviction of a person who has a personal experience & relationship with Jesus the Christ to back it up.

(About some of the songs)

"If Jesus Says You're Healed" is also the first music video single, features Shirley Marie Graham formerly of the GRAMMY award winning Sounds of Blackness. George and Graham team up to deliver in song a powerful healing message, "God is still definitely healing." A powerful, spirit-filled emotional ballad. "This song came to me shortly after my dad had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He was straight up told by the doctors that he wasn't going to live. I started studying Mark 15:11 in the word of God about healing. I remember where it talked about mustard seed faith and I took those scriptures and ministered to my dad about having faith and how God is pleased when we have faith. At that time I had started piecing those songs together, but I didn't really do anything with it. Yet years later, I decided to go ahead and finish the song and make it a part of my project. I wanted it to minister to people who had been diagnosed with different illnesses and who may have been told 'they're not going to make it'. He can still heal you today as well."

"I Get Joy", the second music video single, makes you want to dance because of just what it says, "I Get Joy". I get joy when I think about what God has done for me. "So many times when I know that God didn't have to do anything for me, but He decided to do it simply because he loved me. And, the way he forgave me over and over. Even when I didn't deserve it. Even how He's kept me. Get out of my way, cause I think I'm gonna run."

"Save Me" is a Quartet style ballard. "It was written to encourage a lot of my brothers who struggle with a tremendous amount of backsliding -- men who just can't seem to stop backsliding. I just tried to place myself in their shoes."

Mpls, MN (GMS) Aug 09, 2006 - The debut music video single release..."I Get Joy" from the soon to be release in 2007 cd project Sent To Encourage You, is premiering on GRACE Media Network Music Channel (www.GMNetwork.cc).

Review:

This project coming [Sent To Encourage You] is wonderful. It's not the typical cd of songs and feel good music, but there is something more, an added element, God's heartbeat, love. This is a project of ministry.
